2018 Kia Optima vs 2018 Honda Accord

2018 Kia Optima vs 2018 Honda Accord side by side

In many ways, the lead cars for Kia and Honda are the Optima and the Accord respectively. This is good for you if you are buying a sedan, but which one is better? We will try to answer that question with our 2018 Kia Optima vs 2018 Honda Accord comparison. Both models are impressive in their own right, likely edging out the competition from all other brands, but when comparing these two leaders one model comes out ahead. Of course, if we were to only judge by styling, then the severely bland Accord would clearly lose out to the stylish Optima. Let’s look past that for a moment and dig into the numbers.

If you are already set on getting a Kia Optima and you live in the Greensboro area, then you should consider the inventory that we have here at Carolina Kia. We are located in High Point, and you can view our entire new Optima inventory by clicking the link below.

Is the 2018 Optima better than the Accord?

Years ago, Honda earned its reputation as being the affordable and reliable brand. Since those days, they have essentially coasted on their reputation without really delivering on it. Nowhere is that more obvious than with the latest Honda Accord.

For 2018, the Accord is severely undercut by the Optima in price. On top of that, Kia actually gives you a powertrain warranty that you can rely on. With 10 years or 100,000 miles of coverage, you can go a long time before you ever have to worry about your engine or transmission requiring costly repairs.

Price and warranty are one thing though. Let’s face it, you still want the best sedan, and even ignoring price and warranty, the Optima still comes out on top. When you’re looking at the transmission, you can have the unreliable and dull CVT with the Accord, or one of the sporty Kia automatics including the available dual-clutch transmission, which shifts like lightning.

The Kia also has better standard and available features. The base model Optima comes with luxury features like heated side mirrors and satellite radio both standard. These features are absent on the current base model Accord.

If you’ve decided that the 2018 Optima is right for you, then we are ready to back you up. You can come to Carolina Kia and we will help you find the right Optima trim for your needs right here in High Point. We hope to see you soon.
