2.4-Liter GDI Inline-4

If you’re going for either the base model LX or one step above it with the EX, you’ll be getting a 2.4-liter GDI Inline-four engine. The model is equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic Sports Shift capabilities. If you’re opting for this engine, you’re also opting for an impressive 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque – not bad for a sedan. Efficiency-wise, you’ll be seeing around 25 miles per gallon in the city, and 36 on the highway.

1.6-Liter GDI Inline-4

Drivers looking for a bit more efficiency may opt for the Optima LX 1.6T configuration. This configuration offers a turbocharged 1.6-Liter GDI inline-four engine, which gives drivers a healthy 178 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. When the engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, this model becomes the most efficient in the Optima lineup. Coming in at 28 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway is something we wouldn’t complain about!

2.0-Liter GDI Inline-4

Finally, if you’re looking to ramp up the power to make your daily communte more fun, maybe the Kia Optima SX or the SX Limited will spark your interest. The turbocharged, 2.0-liter inline-four engine offers drivers a whopping 245 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. When the engine is paired with a six=speed automatic transmission, drivers will still be able to reach around 22 miles per gallon in the city, and a healthy 31 miles per gallon on the highway. How’s that for a sedan?
